Brian Scalf, EMS helicopter pilot

My name is Brian Scalf. I taught as a CFI and Assistant Chief Flight Instructor at Silverhawk for several years. Silverhawk always treated me great the entire time that I worked for them. It was a fantastic place to work and I was sad to move on even though I was excited to pursue my career.  I still miss working there to this day.

When I left, I first took a job in the Gulf of Mexico, flying mostly a EC120 and eventually a AS350B2 providing offshore oil support. I worked there for about 20 months building my turbine time and learning a lot about weather and commercial operations. Then I took a job flying as an Emergency Medical Service (EMS) Pilot out of Tricities, Washington. I moved up to twin turbine aircraft at this job. Starting with a BO105-5 and then to an EC135P1. I really enjoy flying EMS. After about 18 months, I then secured a job back here in Boise, flying EMS for another program. I actually work for a contract vendor and am contracted to the hospital. It's a great job. I get to fly helicopters, which I still love to do, and get to help people. too. It doesn't get much better than that in my opinion.

I would recommended Silverhawk Aviation Academy to anyone interested in becoming a safe and professional helicopter pilot (In fact, I have recommended them to many already). They have business integrity and quality instruction that will not only assist you in obtaining your licenses, but will also help to keep you safe in your career. They have a great training environment in the fact that there is: towered and un-towered airspace to learn in, diverse weather (so you don't end up learning to fly in weather the first time by yourself), mountainous terrain to challenge you during your commercial training.
