However, there are more helicopters today than there are pilots who are qualified to fly them, and the companies who own the helicopters need them to fly to produce revenue. And while production and sales of helicopters may have slowed this past year, the fact remains that helicopters are still being manufactured and still being placed into the workfield. There are also other opportunities, such as seismic and mining support, helicopter skiing, and corporate pilot.

Some of these positions require experience in turbine helicopters, sometimes specific models, and many require you to have an instrument certificate. While a few companies may require you to obtain your ATP rating within a year of employment, it is a huge advantage acquire this rating prior to applying for certain jobs.
