FINANCING
Loans & Scholarships
Find the payment plan that's right for you.
You can finance through traditional student loans at Treasure Valley Community College, or you may find private loans through a variety of companies. For the Professional Pilot Program through Silverhawk, we recommend the Sallie Mae Smart Option Student Loan. Visit Sallie Mae, fill out an online application, and receive your eligibility status within 24 hours.
Another great source for loans and scholarships is the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. You can get up to $25,000 of assistance through AOPA's Flight Training Funds program. Also, you will have access to many other sources and benefits by joining AOPA as a student pilot.
If you are interested in finishing or adding a rating and need financing on a smaller scale, we offer financing through Pilot Finance.
CAREER PATHS
LIFE FLIGHT (EMS)
Air medical services have a mission to save lives, transporting patients in rural areas and hospitals to large tertiary care facilities. Most air medical companies require a minimum of 2,000 hours total flight time.
FIRE FIGHTING
Wildland fire fighting is a career for seasoned pilots with 1,500 hours total flight time or more. Most firefighter pilots work under seasonal contracts, however some federal agency positions are full-time.
TURBINE TOURS
Applicants must have 1,000 hours of total flight time for most turbine tour positions. No previous turbine time is required, which is why turbine tour pilots are what many of our CFI's will pursue once they've reached the hour requirements. There are numerous tour companies worldwide in some of the most beautiful areas on Earth.
PRIVATE CHARTER
Far from the adrenaline rush of disaster flight are the private charter flight pilot positions.
