FINANCING

Loans & Scholarships

Find the payment plan that's right for you.

You can finance your flight training through traditional student loans at Treasure Valley Community College or explore private loan options.

For Silverhawk's Professional Pilot Program, we recommend the Sallie Mae® Airline Career Loan, designed specifically for professional flight training. Simply apply online through Sallie Mae to receive your eligibility status, often within 24 hours.

Sallie Mae also offers the Sallie Mae® Parent Loan, where the parent is the borrower and is legally responsible for repayment. If the parent qualifies, no co-signer is required. This option is ideal when a parent plans to make the loan payments. If the student will be responsible for repayment, we recommend the Sallie Mae® Airline Career Loan.

Students may also qualify for scholarships through the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), including up to $25,000 through AOPA's Flight Training Funds program, along with additional member benefits.

If you're completing your training or adding a rating and only need a smaller loan, financing is also available through Pilot Finance.

CAREER PATHS

LIFE FLIGHT (EMS)

Air medical services have a mission to save lives, transporting patients in rural areas and hospitals to large tertiary care facilities. Most air medical companies require a minimum of 2,000 hours total flight time.

FIRE FIGHTING

Wildland fire fighting is a career for seasoned pilots with 1,500 hours total flight time or more. Most firefighter pilots work under seasonal contracts, however some federal agency positions are full-time.

TURBINE TOURS

Applicants must have 1,000 hours of total flight time for most turbine tour positions. No previous turbine time is required, which is why turbine tour pilots are what many of our CFI's will pursue once they've reached the hour requirements. There are numerous tour companies worldwide in some of the most beautiful areas on Earth.

Oil derrick

OIL RIG SUPPORT

Helicopter oil rig support involves transporting crew, equipment, and supplies between offshore oil platforms and onshore bases, ensuring efficient and timely operations in remote marine environments. These flights are critical for maintaining safety, operational continuity, and emergency response capabilities.
